Raised in Reno, Nevada, she brings a strong sense of community and a deep appreciation for long-term, relationship-based care to every patient encounter. Dr. So Hines Preferred Family Medicine

Her approach to medicine emphasizes evidence-based care, shared decision-making, and thoughtful listening, allowing patients to feel informed, supported, and actively involved in their health. Dr. Hines strives to build enduring relationships that support the physical, emotional, and overall well-being of individuals and families.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hines enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking throughout Northern Nevada, and baking. These activities help her stay grounded, active, and inspired—values she brings to her work as a physician and to the care she provides to her patients.

So Hines, D.O. is a board-trained family medicine physician who provides comprehensive primary care to children, adults, and families.

Dr. Hines is known for her patient-centered approach, taking time to listen carefully, understand individual goals, and partner with patients to create personalized care plans that support both immediate concerns and long-term health.

Her philosophy of medicine aligns closely with the concierge, Direct Primary Care model at Preferred Family Medicine—care that is unhurried, accessible, and rooted in relationships rather than volume.

Education, Training, and Clinical Background

Dr. Hines earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine in Henderson, Nevada, graduating in 2018. She completed her family medicine residency at Northwest Washington Family Medicine Residency at St. Michael Medical Center in Bremerton, Washington, where she received comprehensive training in full-spectrum primary care across all ages.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Hines completed her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, graduating cum laude, and later completed her premedical coursework at the University of Nevada, Reno. This strong academic foundation informs her thoughtful, analytical, and evidence-based approach to patient care.

Her residency training emphasized preventive care, women’s health, pediatric and adolescent medicine, and the management of both acute and chronic conditions—preparing her to care for individuals and families over time with continuity and depth.

Following residency, Dr. Hines has practiced family medicine in a variety of settings throughout Northern Nevada, including serving as a Primary Care Physician with the Veterans Affairs health system, Northern Nevada HOPES, and Carson Tahoe Medical Group. This diverse clinical experience has strengthened her ability to care for patients with a wide range of medical needs while maintaining a thoughtful, patient-centered approach.

Dr. Hines is a member of both the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association. She brings to Preferred Family Medicine a strong foundation in evidence-based care, ethics, and relationship-driven medicine that aligns closely with the Direct Primary Care model.
