house calls

Mobile Homecare - The return of the "House Call"

Have you, a family member or friend ever experienced a sickness so debilitating that going to the doctor was just not an option? Have you ever called your doctor’s office to express your symptoms, and explain an office visit isn't possible, but end up being rejected and told an office visit is required? Direct primary care (DPC) is here reduce these barriers by providing high quality patient care which includes virtual visits, telemedicine, and HOME VISITS (yes we said it,  home visits).

Home visits started in the 1930’s, but with the ever-evolving advancements in technology and insurance regulations dictating care, home visits diminished drastically by the 1950’s and were almost non existent into the 2000’s. Many patients may view house calls as old fashioned, but at Preferred Family Medicine we are geared toward old and new ways of practicing medicine in order to provide that high quality patient care, patients deserve.  House calls have previously shown to reduce ER visits, reach out to patients in rural areas, and reduce secondary infections. The DPC model allows Dr. Highley to care for complex patients suffering from illnesses or chronic conditions in the safety, privacy and comfort of their home. House calls ease the burden of those having difficulty getting out to the doctor, as well as helping their families and caregivers. Preferred Family Medicine is incorporating the homecare model in order to establish a close relationship with patients and a deep understanding of their social and clinical needs. Our primary goal is to reduce any all barriers to access your primary care physician.
