Frequently Asked Questions
Employer Direct Primary Care
Does Direct Primary Care replace health insurance?
No. DPC is a primary-care membership, not health insurance. It is generally paired with a plan covering specialists, imaging, hospital services, emergency treatment, and other care outside primary care.
Can PFM work with a self-funded health plan?
Yes. PFM can work alongside a broker, benefits consultant, TPA, and health-plan team to incorporate DPC into a self-funded or level-funded strategy.
Can dependents participate?
Yes. Eligibility can be structured for employees only or expanded to eligible spouses and children.
Will an employer receive individual medical information?
No individual medical information is shared without patient authorization, except as permitted or required by law. Aggregate reporting can be structured to protect employee privacy.
Can larger employers implement the program gradually?
Yes. A pilot or phased rollout may be appropriate for larger workforces, multiple locations, significant dependent enrollment, or programs requiring additional clinical capacity.
How is employer pricing determined?
Programs are customized around anticipated enrollment, eligibility, dependent participation, implementation needs, and optional services. Contact PFM for a confidential consultation.
